frequently asked questions
Have a question? Here's some answers to a few common questions we receive.
Buyers
- How do I know if a seller is legitimate?
Petfetch.com.au advises all potential buyers to exercise discretion when contacting a seller. Never offer any cash upfront as a deposit, part-payment or full payment. Preferably complete all monetary transactions face-to-face once you have inspected the pet, the pet's parents (if possible) and the residence. If a seller asks for cash up front, let us know.
- Why can't I see the email address of a seller?
We keep email addresses secret to avoid sellers being targetted by spammers. Any enquiries, however, are routed direct to the seller's email address, which must be disclosed during registration.
- Why can't I see the exact address of a seller?
For security of sellers we don't show the actual street address. Instead we provide a location map for the suburb as an approximation. This allows potential buyers to estimate the travelling distance.
- The seller told me all the pets have been sold.
An advertisement on Petfetch.com.au runs for 1 month. Sometimes a seller may have sold all the pets in an advertisement prior to expiration. For this reason ads are returned by default in date order.
- Can I submit articles?
Yes! If you have an article you've written that is relevant to one of our article categories, you can submit to us for consideration. Accepted articles will be credited to the author's real name or pen name if desired. All submissions are judged on internal editorial guidelines and Petfetch.com.au does not make any guarantees to an article's inclusion.
Sellers
- Can I add images to my advertisement?
Yes. Up to (6) images can be included with any advertisement.
- My images won't upload.
Images must be uploaded in a Jpeg, Gif or PNG format. Further, image files must be under 2Mb. If you're expriencing difficulty uploading and your images are the right format try resizing the images.
- Why can't I use a free email account?
To ensure security for buyers we only allow email addresses from a confirmed non-anonymous address. This prevents many scams from appearing on Petfetch.com.au and ensures a higher level of trust for all advertisers. ISPs (Internet Service Providers) usually provide a free email address with a new account. If you're unsure whether you have an email with your ISP try contacting them to find out.
